Preview: Offie Mag Presents PYJÆN and Tina Edwards at Patterns

The band PYJÆN have their origins at Sussex’s Brainchild festival where trumpeter Dylan Jones ordered a cup of coffee. The subsequent misspelling of his name on the coffee cup, PYJÆN, gave him the idea for the name of a new band he had formed with fellow students on the jazz course at Trinity Laban.

The band, consisting of Dylan Jones, saxophonist Ben Vize, guitarist Dani Diodato, bassist Ben Crane and drummer Charlie Hutchinson, released their debut EP Prologue in November 2017.

In April of this year they released the first of two singles, Nah, followed by Creation in July.

Over the summer they appeared at Glastonbury’s Worm Hole stage, and the Jazz In The Round stage at Love Supreme.

In September they released single In Search of The Sticky Side, together with their self-titled debut album, the limited edition 12” vinyl of which is nearly sold out.

As part of Offie Mag’s excellent new season of jazz nights at Brighton’s Patterns, PYJÆN appear on Wednesday 23rd October.

If their energetic performance at the Jazz In The Round stage at Love Supreme in July is anything to go by then this will be an exciting and memorable gig.

Also appearing is DJ Tina Edwards who presents a radio show every Friday on Worldwide FM and also hosts the Supreme Standards podcast.
