Live Review: Elaine Delmar at The Hawth

Elaine Delmar

The Hawth, Crawley

Sunday 15th February 2015

At the age of 75 you might expect to perhaps a hear little ‘maturity’ in the voice.  No!  Still with a soaring range, swooping from controlled high to controlled low, Elaine performed for nearly two hours interpreting the works of Gershwin and Porter.  Familiar songs sung many times, but still as fresh as ever, sung with total enthusiasm and mastery of the subject.  Accompanied by a trio of the highest order, Brian Dee, piano, Simon Thorpe, bass and Matt Home on drums, this was a most satisfying gig.
