Jazz News: Love Supreme Line Up Announcement
Love Supreme Festival have announced an additional 30 artists who will be performing at the 2020 festival which runs from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th July.
The festival begins on Friday 3rd July with appearances by Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, Yazmin Lacey, Jazz Morley, and Danish pianist/composer/arranger Kathrine Windfeld’s Sextet.
Saturday main stage artists include headliner Anita Baker in her final UK performance, TLC, Candi Staton, Vulfpeck guitarist Cory Wong, and MF Robots, the duo of Jan Kincaid and Dawn Joseph.
Saturday on the Big Top stage sees a new project involving Tom Misch & Yussef Dayes, Brazilian legend Sergio Mendes, Cape Verdean vocalist Mayra Andrade, Israeli trumpeter Avishai Cohen, and British trumpeter Quentin Collins’ Sextet.
Saturday on The Arena stage sees Greentea Peng, Afrobeat ensemble Kokoroko, Sasha Keable, Chilean tenor saxophonist Melissa Aldana, Australian vocalist Kaiit, Cuban pianist Harold Lopez-Nussa, British guitarist Rob Luft, and Scottish pianist Fergus McCreadie’s Trio.
Sunday main stage artists include Philadelphia hip hop group The Roots, soul legends The Isley Brothers, Sister Sledge, Louis Cole Big Band, Brand New Heavies, and Snowboy & The Latin Section.
Sunday on the Big Top stage sees Charles Lloyd’s Kindred Spirits band which features Marvin Sewell, Reuben Rogers, & Eric Harland. Also appearing are Tunisian singer and oud player Dhafer Youssef, British saxophonist Nubya Garcia (pictured), Scottish vocalist Georgia Cécile and the Michael Janisch Band.
Sunday at The Arena stage sees Nérija, the British jazz ensemble that grew out of Tomorrow’s Warriors who recently released their debut album Blume. Also appearing are vocalist Charlotte Adigéry, bassist Daniel Casimir with vocalist Tess Hirst, Graham Costello’s Strata, Neue Grafik Ensemble, and Mamas Gun.
More artists are set to be announced in the coming months, including the Bands & Voices stage; Jazz In The Round stage; and the Bandstand stage, that will once again showcase local and emerging talent chosen by New Generation Jazz.
