Drummer Moses Boyd won his first MOBO award in 2015 as part of the duo Binker & Moses following their impressive debut album, Dem Ones. More awards followed in 2016 as Binker & Moses won two Jazz FM awards for Breakthrough Act and Best UK Jazz Act, and Best Newcomer at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards. Boyd also released his upbeat track Rye Lane Shuffle to critical acclaim.
In 2017 Binker and Moses released Journey to the Mountain of Forever, a double album that featured guest spots from Evan Parker, Byron Wallen, Tori Handsley, Sarathy Korwar and Yussef Dayes. That same year Moses appeared at SunFall Festival with his Solo X project that saw him mix electronics with live solo drumming. Boyd is also an accomplished producer having co-produced Zara McFarlane’s 2017 album Arise and has since co-produced tracks for Theon Cross and Ashley Henry.
At Field Day festival in 2018 Moses brought his Exodus band featuring Nathaniel and Theon Cross, Binker Golding, Ife Ogunjobi and Artie Zaitz. That year also saw Binker & Moses release their third album, Alive In The East, recorded live at Total Refreshment Centre, with guest spots from Evan Parker, Byron Wallen, Tori Handsley and Yussef Dayes.
Moses Boyd’s new album Dark Matter, released in February on his own label, Exodus, features guest spots from Poppy Ajudha, Joe Armon-Jones, Nonku Phiri, Nubya Garcia and Obongjayar.
